Monday Mixtape - You can do magic
I love music and my taste is pretty eclectic I guess, but I'm always hearing songs that really resonate with me on some kind of weird higher level. Even songs I've heard a hundred times will one day like, speak to me. Oooooh!
The other day this song came on and I always knew the lyrics were 'you can do magic' but that day it was like - 'no, you really can do magic'!

The Week Ahead - Steady Progress
I've been ill. My brain is kind of like cotton wool and the thought of pulling a Tarot card today and then interpreting it into something really useful to put on my blog was like -OMG how can I?! So instead I went back to basics. I pulled a card from my Doreen Virtue Daily Guidance From Your Angels deck. I love Angel Oracle cards because they are are just really loving and gentle. There's no Death card or Tower card to deal with, and some days (like today for me!) you just need a cup of tea and a hug instead of a kick in the pants to get going on your goals. I highly recommend Angel cards for this reason, they have that energy that feels like angels putting their wings around you, even if it's still not always want you want to hear, whereas Tarot can sometimes be more of a shove in the right direction.
So today's cup of tea and hug tells us we are making steady progress!

I don't know about you, but I constantly have the feeling that I can be doing more, that I should be doing more. If I'm not at work I should be working on my blog, practicing and reading about Tarot and other spiritual stuff, you know, working on becoming enlightened and stuff. Oh yeah and then there's working on my YA novel, reading for fun, spending time with friends and loved ones, and what about the new episodes of True Blood?! Don't even look at my carpets seriously, I haven't vacuumed in ages. There just never seems to be enough hours in the day! And I wonder why I get a cold with this kind of thinking!?
This week we are being told - it's OK, you are doing fine, even if it doesn't always feel like it, you are making progress towards your goals, and if you are spreading the love and light a little every day then you are doing well! *Pat on back*.
So don't beat yourself up if you didn't get that blog post done, or whatever it was you wanted to have achieved by today. The Angels don't judge us on how much we do. They don't judge us on how far we get in our careers or how much money we make. They don't care if we write one blog post or one hundred. They only care that whatever we do we do it with love.
So have a great week new-agers, spread the love and know that's enough this week!

#Caturday cat cards - Two of Pentacles
This #Caturday we come across this guy who's doing a bit of a juggling act. This kitty is holding onto two coins and seems kind of unaware of the sea and ships behind him. He's got lots on his mind trying to keep those two coins from falling, you can't totally blame him for not seeing what else is going on around him.
We might be doing our own little juggling act this weekend. I'm sick with a cold which totally sucks and I kind of feel like this kitty right now - I'm trying to rest and get better but there's so many other things I'm thinking about!
This kitty is a message for us today to focus on one thing at a time, whether it's resting when you are sick, putting away your phone when you're on a date or out with friends, or even - and this is something I always do - checking the IMDB app on your phone while watching a movie. I mean do you really have to know what that guy is from?! Can't you just enjoy the movie and look it up later? At the very least, pause the movie while you do it!
If you're super busy this weekend and don't even have time for a movie then you can also make a to do list. It sounds seriously lame, but I swear by them (when I actually do them!). It's a good quick way to work out which jobs are important, what can wait, and when you tick everything off you have the rest of the day to yourself instead of procrastinating about everything and still having to do it all tomorrow.
On another note, I haven't been able to do any free readings in the last few days and I know there's a couple waiting in my inbox. The week ahead - We are the world
I don't know about you, but I've been feeling a deep sadness about the world this last week. The plane crash in the Ukraine, the events taking place in Israel, children dying of cancer... the world is a dark place at times and it's feeling very heavy right now.
I had a little trouble pulling a card this week. I pulled The World card for us this week from my new Housewives Tarot deck, then put it back, pulled a couple that didn't feel right and then pulled The World again. Perhaps at first glance I didn't want to have to write about something so full on so I tried to avoid it. But that's the thing about tarot, and life too, you can't just avoid the things you don't want to deal with.
This week I feel we are being guided to think about 'The World'. The imagery here shows a very closed minded view of the world, a bubble, the parts of the world that affect us directly in our everyday lives. What are we having for dinner? What's the earliest we can leave work so we don't get stuck in traffic? How many days until the weekend? We often get so caught up in ourselves and our world bubble around us that we don't always think about the fact that our home isn't just our flat, or our house with the white picket fence. The whole planet is our home.
OK I'm getting way too emo, but I really think this week is a good time to meditate (whatever that means to you!) on the world, and that we are, quite literally it. We can sit around and moan about the state of things, but we are the state of things. We are the world.
I don't want anyone to fall into a pit of despair, after all there is so much beauty here on Earth and so many amazing people who want to share love, joy and happiness and so much to live for, but sometimes I think we need to step out of our bubble and put it all into perspective. But instead of getting frustrated or just ignoring the problems on the planet we need to really think about what we can do to help make the world a better place.
In our everyday lives we need to interact positively, we need to be the light and spread the love and joy to others. But when looking at the big picture it might be a good week to donate whatever you can afford to a charity, watch a documentary and educate ourselves, send some positive vibes to the parts of the world that need it most, or even just have a good cry and release some of this pent up frustration that so many of us have been feeling lately.
I like to think that my blog is a really happy positive lighthearted kind of place, so I'm sorry to go on a downer today.
But that's the world.

Beyonce - Queen of Pentacles
Who runs the world? You might be mistaken in thinking it's 'girls' who run the world, but actually, it's Beyonce. That's right, when the Queen of Pentacles shows up, it's time to let out your inner Beyonce!
What is it about Beyonce? She's hard working, powerful, strong, rich, intelligent, confident, talented, etc. etc. I could go on for days, and yet there's something about her that makes you feel like underneath all that, or even blended in with it is this real softness and a heart of gold. Beyonce is not the kind of women other women compete with, she's the woman we look up to, the woman we try to embody when we want to stand in our power. But she's also the kind of chic you just really want to go clubbing with. You're not even worried about her getting all the attention while you stand in the corner like some kind of droopy drunk wallflower, hell no! Beyonce will take you by the hand and pull onto the dance floor and she will kind of seem like... your equal. How is that even possible!?
Let's take a look at the images (Rider Waite/Pamela Coleman Smith deck above) and traditional meanings for the Beyonce, I mean Queen of Pentacles card. First up she's got a bunny. I can so see Beyonce with a pet bunny, can't you? And how about the way she's looking at that coin? She's got this real look on her face that she just loves that coin, not that she loves money exactly, but she is just totally focused on that thing. You can't be Beyonce without having that kind of focus on what you want! The Queen of Pentacles is a warm, caring, wealthy authority figure who sure as heck did not make it by marrying into the right family, oh hell no. She made it on her own terms with her own blood, sweat and tears. She is so all about the 'if you liked it then you should've put a ring on it, see you later loser' mentality. She's not waiting for Prince Charming, she's too busy building her own empire! Her Prince has to fit in with her life, not the other way around!
What I love most about the Beyonce card is the real blend of powerful focus, integrity and strength and kind nurturing softness which we don't really see with the other Queens.
So ladies, whenever you pull this card in a reading for yourself remember to channel your inner Beyonce! And for all you blokes out there who are trying to get in touch with their feminine side - the Beyonce/Queen of Pentacles is the epitome of the feminine side so work it!

#Caturday cat cards - Seven of Cups
Happy #Caturday everyone! Wow, another loooonnnnng week but it's finally the weekend again! It's the kitty Seven of Cups today, and this often gets called the 'choices' card. Well yeah, there's a kitty all looking at his cups (a.k.a choices) trying to decide which one he wants. I never fully understood why he could only just take one anyway!? You've got two paws kitty, reach out and grab TWO!
So today we should have a look at our options, be open to opportunities and then, after working out what we really want, grab a couple by the stems!
I'm finally off to see The Fault in Our Stars today at the cinema. I loved the book and will definitely be taking some tissues with me! A huge John Green fan I am! What are you going to do today?!

Eric Northman - King of Swords
If Nick Miller is the King of Cups and Matthew McConaughey is the Page of Swords, Eric Northman is SO King of Swords.
The King of Swords has that sharp edge and silver tongue (see what I did there?!) that the other Kings don't. The King of Cups is like a free jelly beans for all kind of dude, the King of Pentacles is all about doing it for the moola and the King of Wands is a guy who will up and beat you with a stick but maybe not at Scrabble.
But do you really want to play Scrabble with Eric Northman?!
Hello no, he's like a thousand years old and speaks like every European language, he's going to be pretty good at Scrabble. Also, he's probably going to slice you if you you use his triple word score square.
He's the Sheriff of Area 5, owner of Fangtasia (OK, maybe not so much in the current episodes), he oozes authority over everyone in town and beyond and is basically what is known as The Man. He's sharp, quick (physically and mentally!) although emotions aren't really so much his thing. Why couldn't he just love Sookie?! Eric is the ultimate alpha male, but not in that - 'oh gross that guy thinks he is sooooo all that' kind of way. This guy so alpha male you won't even realise until after six weeks of stalking and crying over him your friends surprise you with another one of those intervention parties.
Traditionally the King of Swords is aggressive, ambitious, distrusting, and even a little conservative. You may think Eric Northman is so not conservative, but it's not like he wears colours.
This is the guy that rips off a werewolf's head and then gives you a sparkly grin that makes you weak at the knees when usually you can't even stomach looking at a rare steak. He's scary, powerful, exciting and you could learn a hell of a lot from him. A little King of Swords confidence and energy can go a long way!
I pulled this card from the Tarot of White Cats deck this #Caturday as a reminder that you have the power. When you see this card in a spread and it doesn't relate to a hot date with a Alexander Skarsgaard look-a-like, remember to channel your inner Eric Northman!

The week ahead - get on the horse!
Usually when I do the week ahead reading I make a big thing out of getting in the zone and pulling a card for us all yada yada yada... Today I was playing around with a new spread which is from the Dusty White book I'm always going on about - The Easiest Way to Learn the Tarot Ever. It's called the Roundabout spread and the reading I gave myself was ultra amazing! I usually suck at giving myself readings, you know how you always see what you want to see, or try to make the cards relate to a specific outcome you want, but this one was so bang on and so hard hitting that I knew it was totally what I needed to hear right now, even though some of it was a kick up in the pants!
I'll spare you the gory details of my entire reading, but one card in particular didn't just speak to me, it screamed in my face, and I thought it was worth sharing this week for the week ahead!
The Seven of Wands; it's not really that much of an exciting card really. Usually when I see this card I relate better to the people walking than the guy on the horse. I always perceive the guy on the horse as a 'boss' type, you know, that guy who gets all the glory when really, it was the people on the ground who did all the work. I've always seen him as kind of a boastful jerk and definitely not a character I relate to at all.
As part incarnated angel I don't think I've ever really been on the horse. I follow behind, working quietly in the wings, not talking about my grand plans or ambitions. That's not to say I don't have them, I just don't dance around telling everyone who'll listen. I stay relatively humble and just get on with things while my superiors constantly reap the rewards and I go home and drink half a bottle of wine while I watch True Blood and whinge about it.
Well guys, that's all about to change! I pulled this card reversed in the 'what I need to address' position and I wrote in my journal in caps - GET ON THE F***ING HORSE FOR ONCE!
This message was so intense I felt like it was for all of us. Let yourself get on the horse for once. Stop being a follower and start putting yourself out there!

#Caturday cat cards - King of Swords
It's Caturday at last! I don't know about you guys but this has been a crazy week for me! I've been e x h a u s t e d! No matter how much sleep I got, or how much time I had I just seemed to be kind of done this week.
But the King of Swords is telling us that we have the power! We can do whatever we want today! If you want to just sit and finally finish that book you've been reading for weeks (Hello Clockwork Prince!), or if you want to get cracking on some of those projects you're up to, or even if you want to veg out and watch Sorority Girls on iPlayer (OMG why am I so obsessed with that show when it's SO BAD?), or even if you want to go out on a date with someone your friends are telling you is so bad for you - screw what everyone else thinks about how you spend your time - you are the King of Swords dammit! Do whatever you want! (Within reason right? Like if that guy is bad for you don't get into a silly situation!)
Remember this Caturday that the power is within you!
