Winter Solstice Spread for Self Love and Self Care

K, so this is weird.

Usually I'm in the northern hemisphere for Solstices and these sorts of things, but right now I'm in Australia.

I'm going to be flying back to the UK on the 21st, which is pretty much the Solstice, and so I'm kind of going to get more Winter Solstice than Summer Solstice, which is why I made a Winter Solstice spread in the middle of UK summer.

I always feel a bit meh during winter. Especially in the UK. There's no sun for months on end and so I think it's super important for us to be kind to ourselves with warm slippers and cups of cocoa. That's why this is a self love + self care spread.

Weirdly though, it's actually been sunnier and nicer in Melbourne than it has in the UK for the last few weeks.

So yeah, what's going on? It's winter, but it's sunny.

But anyway!

Here's a Winter Solstice spread for y'all to try, whether it's winter or not, who cares, it's a great spread for self love and self care on any cold day, or anytime of the year anyway.

1. Reward Yourself

This card will let you know what you've done awesomely that needs a reward. Like, what can you reward yourself for, and how can you do it?

I got the Fool reversed. Time to reward myself for all the times I got out of my comfort zone and said "screw it" and jumped. I trusted the universe, I could trust it more, that's true. But mostly I'm gonna reward myself for the adventures I've taken and probably reward myself by planning another jump.

2. Rest Here

They always say "don't rest on your laurels", but actually, this is exactly what you should do right now. What are your laurels to rest on?

I got Four of Swords reversed. Ha! This is like yes Vix, this means you too. Hahah.

3. Seeds to Sow

The Winter Solstice is more about sowing seeds than making stuff happen. What are some seeds for you to start sowing, or think about sowing?

I got the Eight of Cups. Time to sow some serious seeds for mindset shifts and work on some overwhelm issues!

4. Love Yourself

Everyone is always banging on about self love and loving yourself, but WTF does it even really mean? This card will give you some guidance on how to love yourself.

I got the Ten of Pentacles. A bit of a "it's OK to be successful and be looked after financially" message. Loving yourself is about accepting all the gifts the universe throws at you, not being a martyr.

5. Your Inner Light

What's lighting you up? What's keeping you bright?

I got the Tower reversed. OMG this reading is killing me. Haha! OK, so actually, right now I'm being lit up by the idea of creating my life and my biz from the ground up. A lot of stuff had to go, but it's OK because actually, rebuilding stuff the way you really want it is super exciting.

6. Awesomeness Potential

Oh yeah baby! It might be cold (or not really if you're in parts of Aussie) and you might not feel like doing much right now, but babe, you will, and when you do, this is the cool stuff that may come up for you.

I got the Nine of Wands reversed. A great message about releasing some old junk here, especially "what others think of you" and generally letting down your guard.

7. How to Stay Shiny

Sometimes when it's cold and dark it's hard to stay shiny. But this card will help you find a way to stay shiny, even in the dark. For more help with this check out my totally free e-book How to Stay Shiny!

I got the Four of Pentacles. I can stay shiny by letting go, surrendering and letting it happen rather than focusing on and forcing myself to be shiny at all times!

I hope this spread helps you, wherever you are, whatever the season or the weather.

You can come talk about your findings in the Tarot Nerds or Spiritual Journey Pitstop group and be sure to hashtag #newagehipster on Instagram so I can find you!

With so much love, light and warm winter solstices,

Weekly Reading – March 9 TO 15 2015 – Morgan's Tarot

Morgan's Tarot - Morgan Robbins
Morgan's Tarot - Morgan Robbins

Welcome to another week on Planet Earth kids! This week your spiritual guidance comes courtesy of the Morgan's Tarot. First printed in the 1970's this is a seriously bizarre quirky deck that gives pretty amazing readings! So let's see how it can help us this week to make the most of the next 7 days ahead...

Start of the week - There are no others

This card reminds you that no one is coming to save you. You have to save yourself. You have to be your own knight in shining armour. Sure, you may have a great partner, friends and loads of people who will help you on your life path, which is a wonderful thing! But there are times in life when you need to be the one to pick yourself up, dust yourself off and start again. You're a grown up now, if you fall over and scratch your knee do you sit there and cry until mummy comes running with a Bandaid? Or do you get the hell up and get on with your day?

Middle of the week - What's happening?

When I pulled this card I saw these shapes as being 'organised', and that's what we need to do a little of this week. We've spent some time lately trying to see the big picture, well now it's time to zoom in on that one thing that we can do this week to move forward in our lives. You don't have to get the whole thing worked out, but you do have to make some progress. Even just some planning, some research or some thinking and journalling would be a good start. A small start is better than no start! Whatever is coming up for you in the middle of the week - break it down into manageable chunks. Don't freak out.

End of the week - Freak!

This weekend is all about letting your inner freak out to play! It's about being totally true to yourself, who you are, how you want to act and what you want to wear. Don't stop wearing that bright pink cardigan just because someone at work made a snarky comment about it. Don't stop singing along to the radio when you're browsing in your favourite store when someone looks at you weird, be totally completely freakishly you this weekend. Embrace your inner freak and see what they have to tell you! On the back of that, make sure this week that you are seeing the beauty in other people's inner freaks too! When you see someone on the street who you think looks ridiculous instead of thinking "OMG what is that person wearing?" change your thought to one of "wow, that person has such an individual style", or "I have so much respect for someone that just wears whatever they want to!"

I hope your week is amazing, and if you are free I would love to see you at my Angel Wisdom Wednesday event this week! I'll be doing free readings on my Facebook page for an hour! Join the event for your chance to ask a question and get a free reading! Yay! Oh, and sign up below to get the New Age Hipster newsletter because I'm about to send everyone something really cool and totally free!

<3 I'm sending you all loads of love, light and freakishly awesome vibes! <3

#Caturday cat cards - Three of Swords reversed

photo 2 (6) Guys, it's the weekend why the hell are we looking at the Three of Swords?! This is the ultimate heartbreak card, seriously I don't want to be seeing this first thing on a #Caturday morning! Oh but wait, it's reversed... but is that any better?!

What I'm seeing today is a chance for us to let go of some of that heaviness we have in our hearts, imagine those swords are sliding out now! We are human, we've all had heartbreak and none of us is walking around with a bouncy pure happy heart, that's just not possible in these bodies! It's part of this life's experience to feel emotional pain. Total bummer, sorry guys, but it's true.

So what can we do about it?

1. Accept it. Accept that you have heartache. Don't hide from it, don't cover it with a cute heart shaped rug, look it in the face and say - hey it's OK, this is a part of me and I can work through this.

2. Forgive. Oh hello. Like it's that easy?! If you can' t totally 'forgive' whoever or whatever has hurt you that's cool, this isn't an overnight fix it trick. Just ask the universe, God, angels, guides whoever you like, to help you. What's with this forgiveness thing? OK that's like a whole post, no wait, like a book. What I learnt this week though is that we can't just forgive others, we need to forgive ourselves for how we feel about others. If someone hurt you, you can forgive them, but can you forgive yourself for the mean thoughts you've been thinking about them? Yes, you can and you need to!

3. Heart chakra cleanse! Do some work on your heart chakra this weekend! Do whatever visualisation works for you - green/pink wheels, light, hearts, flowers, whatever, but make sure you see your heart centre as beautiful!

4. Give some love. Send some love to someone; energetically or physically! Give someone a hug, send a virtual hug or an energetic hug!

5. Love yourself. Argh! What?! This is not Radical Self Love Bootcamp! (Although I love that stuff.) We are all at different stages of our self love journey. Some of us are just starting to not hate ourselves and put ourselves down so much, others are feeling much more confident these days but still struggling with certain aspects, and even those of us who are seriously into the self love thing are still having bad hair days. But it's not just about your hair...

When I started writing this post I thought it was just going to be about heart chakra clearing, but there you go - the message today is actually this:

<3 You need to start loving who you are <3

I'm off to what I think is going to be a fabulous workshop today with the lovely Louise Androlia and will be blogging all about it later so come back soon!

Also I'm still giving away free readings if you have a burning question you would like some clarity on! :-)

Love, light and loving who you are,
